Meet the dream team

Jerod is our frontman, and he rocks. Literally. The dude saw more than 100 bands last year. Since founding Recon in 2019, he has orchestrated us to be one of the fastest-growing companies in the nation. Due in part to his vast experience playing every instrument in our business. From kickstarting marketing and tech start-ups to working at insurance and roofing companies, he knows how the music is made. But what truly strikes a chord with him is empowering others to be the best version of themselves — whether personally or professionally, and we like the sound of that.

Colten is like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson but much, much shorter. Colten’s got the charisma, muscles, tats, and, oh boy, does he love the spotlight. He’s truly a dynamic and motivated star. And when it comes to the success of our team, Colten is, well, our rock.

Originally from Grinnell, Libby now lives in Urbandale with her boyfriend and their dog Bodhi. Libby holds an associate of arts degree from DMACC. She enjoys going to concerts and being by bodies of water. She cheers on the Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Vikings, and the Chicago Cubs.

Meet Andy Hansen, Recon's go-to for all things numbers! When he's not busy balancing the books, he's a dedicated family man who enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter. You can also find him bringing his creativity to life through his passion for 3D printing.

Billy is as nice and selfless as they come. He served our country in the Army National Guard and now is serving customers with his unparalleled experience in the insurance world. This Clive resident loves to spend time with his family and play basketball. We are so thankful for his service in more ways than one.

Derrick loves to have fun with puns and is our resident dad joke extraordinaire. The man is a walking, talking Laffy Taffy wrapper. Originally from the Quad Cities, Derrick now lives in West Des Moines with his daughter Mika and puppy dog Loot. When he isn’t helping customers, you can find him cheering on his Kansas City Chiefs and Hawkeyes. Although he’s quite cheesy, he has one of the most aged Recon tenures and a downright Gouda dude. It’s grate to have him on board.​

Originally from Urbandale, IA, Tyler now lives in Granger with his wife and three kids. Tyler is an avid outdoorsman. If Tyler isn’t helping clients with their project you can find him hunting or fishing. He enjoys spending time with family and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals. At Recon, we work everyday to create unparalleled customer experiences. Recon is dedicated to changing the perceptions about the roofing industry by providing exceptional work and communication. Having a professional like Tyler is a testament to that dedication.

Looking for a new roof? You should give Bradey a shot… or he will pour you one. This experienced bartender brings a ton of people skills and construction knowledge to our team. Bradey is a multi-talented dude and loves to shake things up. He once was a scuba diver instructor in the Florida Keys. He also likes to bike, fish, snowboard, and camp. So, if you are looking to revamp your home’s exterior, don’t wait until last call. Bradey should be your first.

Sam gave himself the title of Recon’s Intimacy Coordinator, where his responsibilities include being our Chief Hug Strategist, Secretary of Platonic Affairs, and VP of Frown Upside Down. The guy is a walking and (always) talking ray of fun-shine, and we’re lucky he’s with us. Hailing from Des Moines, Sam also loves to hike, kayak, and spin records under the name “Rev. Fun.” Not to mention, he is a certified reverend.

Don’t let the muscles and haircut fool you, Mike is a real nerd. With two Master's degrees in physical education and curriculum and instruction, this stud loves to learn. Hailing from Marshalltown, Mike lives in Ankeny and has years of experience as a beloved teacher and coach. But we’re trying to not blow too much smoke at him, we wouldn’t want to mess up his hair.

Dave is a high-motor go-getter who enjoys kayaking, skiing, hiking, biking, and running. Born and raised on the south side of Des Moines, he currently lives in Norwalk and has more than two decades of experience in the construction industry. Being a guitarist in multiple bands around town, we’re thrilled to have booked him to work at this gig. ​

There’s something fishy about, Joe. Seriously. This certified scuba stud loves being underwater, but not when it comes to his projects. Joe loves to dive headfirst into any competition you throw at him. This Des Moines native also likes to cook, bake, and play ping-pong. But his true love remains the sea — considering he also has pet turtles and he married the aquatics supervisor at the Blank Park Zoo. He might need to lay off the seaweed.

Bert is a great guy and an even better coach. He is the founding head coach of the Waukee Warriors Lacrosse program, and the president & head coach of Iowa's premier summer travel lacrosse team, Iowa Central Elite Lacrosse (ICE LAX). He is the president of a custom bathroom and kitchen remodeling company named Tile RX, the prescription for all your tile needs. Bert lives in Des Moines with his beautiful wife, Margaret, and their fur babies, Reece Peanut and Harry Pawter. He is a tile wizard, poker shark, and an avid concertgoer.
